Inscription
Sacred to the memory of the Reverend J.W. McCay who died sincerely and deeply lamented on 16th of October 1847 at the early age of 47 years, after a faithful and not unfruitful ministry of 21 years in the Presbyterian Church of Ballynure, during which his amiable character and Christian deportment commended him to the love and esteem of all. Also of his beloved daughters, Jane Houston Boyd who died on the 5th April 1841 aged 2 years and 3 months, and Jane Houston Boyd who died on the 14th September 1851 in her 9th year. 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord'. Rev. XIV, 13. Also his wife Margaret Boyd (widow of the late J. A. Alexander M.D.) died 9th Augt 1890 aged 70 years. "Rest after weariness - peace after pain".
